Our History
Some restaurants are filled with an aura of magic which penetrates every corner, every gesture of the staff, and every dish on the menu. This magical seed was planted 17 years ago by the Italian entrepreneur Santiago Malavasi, when he fulfilled his dream of opening what would quickly become the leading Italian restaurant in the south of Gran Canaria, Il Duomo di Milano.
About us
The spirit, the essence and the memory of Santiago, who sadly passed away in October 2011, live on, thanks to his personal and business legacy and to the committed endeavour of his wife, Giovanna Rossi and their daughter, Francesca who, along with the rest of the team, in spite of their sad loss, continue to pay tribute to the work of Santiago. They strive to make every recipe an explosion of delicious flavours for their clients to enjoy in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Romantic Dining
If you are passionate about authentic Italian cuisine, come to Il Duomo and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of our romantic dining room, decorated in shades of blue and white, or choose to dine on our attractive terrace overlooking a garden of exuberant plants and sculptured fountains. For lovers of pasta, we recommend a mouthwatering classic, Sicilian style maltagliati, with aubergine, served in ‘just that something special’ that only true professionals can provide, fresh tomato sauce with basil and mozzarella.
Legendary authentic recipes
Our menu offers delights such as sirloin steak served in a delicate truffle and foie gras sauce; legendary antipasti like zucchini marinated in balsamic vinegar, tricolor carpaccio (salmon, monkfish, and spinach) and the delicious cartoccio spaghetti with seafood, served in a terracotta dish under a pasta topping. For those of you who would like to know how the Italians cook fish and seafood, we recommend king prawns flambéed in whisky or Pernod, or our Meunière sole; although this is a French recipe, we give it an exquisite original note. Our tasty risottos and traditional pizzas also have a distinctive touch which makes them truly delectable.
